Description
This is a Title 1 grant-funded position for the 2019-20 school year
Pay rate $185 per day
Hours: 7:45 AM - 2:45 PM
This position is not eligible for benefits.

Responsible for supporting student achievement in the areas of reading and math. Position objectives include working with administration and teachers to improve student achievement within the framework of the student-centered coaching model.
Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the progress of all Title I students and design and prepare student progress reports.
  • Prescribe the lessons that the students will work on during Title I time.
  • Perform all student selection requirements including testing and making the final lists of students selected for Title I participation.
  • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers regarding classroom instruction and needs of Title I students and keep written documentation of this communication
  • Develop Title I lesson plans
  • Manage a caseload of assigned Title I students
  • Pull out or assist students in the classroom with supplementary instruction beyond the classroom instruction
  • Pre-teach or re-teach vocabulary words or math concepts to be covered
  • Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods
  • Use a variety of individualized methods to engage students
  • Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement
  • Responds calmly and objectively in situations involving students with extreme/sustained behaviors
  • Utilize appropriate techniques of behavior management and crisis interventions as indicated in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention guidelines; implements strategies to address escalating behaviors, i.e. time-out, discussion, conflict resolution
  • Uses the supplemental materials that are most appropriate for each child's ability.
  • Has regular contact with the students' classroom teacher(s) and uses teacher input to assist in choosing appropriate activities.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with students' homeroom teachers and parents.
  • Keeps a record of student attendance and lesson logs.
  • Provides services and tracks the number of hours worked to be sure to stay within the hour guidelines provided.
  • Tracks and submits data to demonstrate the success of the program.
  • Travels between schools as needed throughout the week
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Student-focused approach
  • A high degree of flexibility and receptive to change
  • Acts as a good model of character with exceptional tact
  • Problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Maintain an accurate record-keeping system
  • Training in and ability to modify/adapt general education curriculum
  • Strong behavior management and positive discipline skills
  • Complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training and utilize skills in a School environment
  • Technology knowledgeable as an instructional tool
Experience with emotionally disturbed and/or learning disabled students preferred
