Job Summary

Provides comprehensive psychological services to students experiencing learning, behavior, and emotional difficulties and for students exhibiting high-level abilities and talents. Participates in school based problem-solving and decision making teams to design prevention/intervention strategies. Delivers in-service training to district and school-based staff.

Essential Functions

1. Provides comprehensive assessment services to students with learning and behavioral concerns.
2. Identifies prescriptive remedial recommendations to support student growth and development.
3. Interprets results of assessments to parents, teachers, and other members of school-based multidisciplinary teams.
4. Prepares written reports of evaluation and recommendations.
5. Participates as a cooperative member of school-based multidisciplinary teams.
6. Provides individual and group counseling activities with students for the purpose of facilitation of personal, social, emotional, and academic growth.
7. Supports crisis intervention services to students encountering severe emotional distress.
8. Serves as a resource consultant on behavioral management, developmental processes and mental health needs of students.
9. Provides in-service training to the community and school personnel regarding psychological services and needs of students.
10. Provides information and training sessions to parents regarding cognitive, emotional, and behavioral child development.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Specialist degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Completion of 1200 hour internship in School Psychology.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education Certification as a Specialist in School Psychology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Knowledge of section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 - Subpart D
• Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA)
• Knowledge of test administration and interpretation
• Knowledge of behavioral assessment procedures
• Knowledge of general child development
• Knowledge of Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules
• Knowledge of policies and procedures related to General Education and Exceptional Student Education services and eligibility requirements
• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong time management skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to write comprehensive evaluation reports that include prescriptive remediation strategies
• Ability to design intervention programs
• Ability to conduct data analysis
• Ability to monitor progress
• Ability to apply standard procedures for counseling
• Ability to perform crisis intervention
• Ability to deliver consultative support services
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary team meetings
• Ability to work with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and professionals from community agencies
• Ability to use scoring software
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time
• Ability to organize and conduct in-service training and professional growth activities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to facilitate meetings effectively
• Ability to implement continuous improvement processes
