Reading Acceleration Paraprofessional
2.5 hours per day, for 160 days per school year; begins immediately; no benefits
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Professional Assessment). Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers. Consideration will be given to the following: ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form. various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school age children
REPORTS TO: Is supervised by classroom teacher who will contribute in the evaluation process. Formal evaluation will be conducted annually by building principal or assistant principal
SALARY: $21.24 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Acceleration Paraprofessionals provide instruction support and/or reinforcement of the instructional program for selected students under the supervision of a teacher.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Receives instructional assignments from and works collaboratively with classroom teachers
- Provides individual or small group tutorials for assigned pupils in a variety of settings under the direction of a classroom teacher
- Monitors and supervises students in a variety of settings.
- Assists teachers in monitoring pupil academic or behavioral progress by assessing and recording pupil performance.
- Prepares summary reports of pupil contacts as required.
- Participates in meetings regarding student programs as requested by the teacher and/or an administrator.
- Attends parent conferences as required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
