BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education (GED) is desirable; two years of general office or clerical experience with computer knowledge and experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Possess general secretarial/clerical skills and have general knowledge of office procedures and equipment including microcomputers, word processors, audio visual equipment, such as televisions, VCRs, video cameras. Ability to maintain complete and accurate records. Ability to learn new technology in connection with the library media center and office procedures. Ability to learn new technologies in connection with the library media center and office procedures. Ability to maintain basic bookkeeping functions. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school division employees and vendors.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

(Typing test required) BASIC FUNCTIONS: This position utilizes a combination of technological, technical, instructional, and secretarial skills necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the library media center; performs all functions necessary for the operation of the automated library system, i.e., circulation process; provides technical expertise, i.e., perform maintenance and minor equipment repairs; provides instructional resource support to staff and students, i.e., access information sources and databases; performs routine and critical secretarial and bookkeeping functions, i.e., interface with vendors, maintains budget and inventory records, and general typing and word processing functions. Work is performed independently under the supervision of the school librarian.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

Work collaboratively with all stake holders in providing a World-Class education. Assist students and staff in use of data bases to facilitate research and information gathering. Assist with the inventory assigned to the Library. Perform all functions necessary for the operation of the automatic library system, i.e., circulation, inventory, reports and notices, statistic gathering, and maintains student information database. Assist with the automated cataloging of library materials using the MARC system; acquires new technological skills to meet the needs of technological advancements. Assist students and staff with the operation of audio visual and instructional technology equipment. Perform minor repairs and arranges for servicing of audio visual equipment. Provides videotaping and media production services to staff, if applicable. Gather curriculum related materials at teacher's request. Train library aides and volunteers; assists in providing instruction. Monitor students as directed by the librarian. Initiate and processes forms for property loan agreements, requests for disposition of unserviceable items, work orders, and audio visual repair forms. Provide secretarial/clerical duties, such as sorts and processes library mail, answers library telephone, duplicating materials including off-air videotaping, types correspondence, purchase orders, and other materials related to the library media center; maintains library supplies. Assist with the organization of the library book fairs and other fundraisers. Order educational materials from the Staff Library, Department of Education, and the Instructional Materials Catalog. Process library books and teaching aides; repair books. Maintain appearance of library facility, work rooms, displays. Complete other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Hiring Range: $25,499 - $35,932/year ($17.00 - $23.95/hour)
