Summary: The Hospital/Homebound Teacher is responsible for delivering individualized education services to students who are placed at this level of service. The teacher collects data and makes instructional decisions based on student needs to access the Common Core State Standards or the Extensions of the Common Core State Standards. Hospital-Homebound Teachers collaborate with other teachers, related service providers, staff from the home school and other colleagues.
Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
Provides direct educational instruction to students who are hospitalized or homebound for periods of time and are unable to attend school.
Consults with teachers and school staff about assignments and special circumstances; implements instructional activities provided by student's teacher(s) of record including any modifications/accommodations designed in the homebound instructional plan.
Implements lesson plans to assure continuity of instruction between the classroom and home.
Provides a learning environment that meets the individual needs of students with diverse learning styles and special needs.
Facilitates student access to technology as appropriate and uses technology in the learning process.
Maintains accurate records in accordance with federal, state and local policies.
Performs related duties as required.
The teacher must be willing to travel through out Mecklenburg County.
