Drake University seeks a visionary and inspiring academic Dean to lead the School of Education in continued excellence.

As the chief academic officer of the School, the Dean plays a vital role in creating and maintaining key relationships across the institution and in the wider community, providing leadership to department chairs in support of faculty pedagogical, scholarly, and professional development, and demonstrating the importance of an inclusive and excellent professional education for all students at the University.  Successful candidates will have a strong track record of achievement in positions of academic leadership, demonstrated abilities to work with donors and community partners, a vision for the future of higher education, and strong skills in communication, planning, budgeting, leadership and project implementation.

The School of Education is home to a distinguished faculty of 24 engaged scholar-teachers, serving in 2 departments, across 2 undergraduate majors, over 20 endorsements, 15 professional graduate programs, and multiple grant programs including Head Start. The College provides exceptional education in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education, emphasizing experiential learning, collaborative learning, adherence to professional accreditation standards, and innovative approaches to instruction and research.
