Title: BPS Lead Recruitment Fellow
Reports to: BPS Recruitment Team

Position Overview
The BPS Recruitment Team is seeking skilled and dedicated district educators to serve as lead ambassadors of BPS Recruitment, promoting the district in an inspiring and realistic way, and emphasizing the district's commitment to diversity. With our city and schools growing more diverse and vibrant, it is our top priority to ensure that we have the best educators in every classroom for our students. We are also committed to increasing the diversity among our educators, as research shows that a diverse workforce is linked directly to closing the achievement gap of students. A crucial part of this work is identifying, cultivating, and hiring the best talent earlier than ever.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a lead face of BPS Recruitment, as a liaison between candidates and the district, and as a mentor to potential BPS educators
  • Manage a group of 5-6 Recruitment Fellows; oversee work progress/documentation and event attendance; assign weekly pre-screening applicants; schedule check-ins and follow up on work status; submit summarized reports of completed work to the Recruitment Team
  • Evaluate resumes and cover letters of Early Hiring Pool applicants and conduct pre-screening phone interviews of high potential candidates
  • Speak to personal experiences teaching or working in BPS
  • Communicate regularly with School Leaders via email
  • Communicate weekly with Recruitment Fellows via Weekly Update email
  • Participate in cultivation events for candidates, such as fairs, information sessions, and interview clinics (please see hour requirements)
  • Provide support to BPS pathway programs
  • Support the distribution, collection, and review of feedback from candidates and school leaders regarding recruitment processes and events
  • Document the status of all work
  • Support and advertise Recruitment's social media and marketing efforts
  • Pre-Screen Responsibilities: November 1 - January 1: 1 EHP interview/week

Timeline
  • Interviews: September 24 - 30, 2019
  • Training: Wednesday October 2, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Office of Human Capital (mandatory)
  • Active Work: October 6, 2019 - June 6, 2020
    • 33 weeks total - not including school vacations/holidays

Hours/Compensation
  • Average of 7 - 12 hours/week, divided by pre-screening work, fellow supervision, and event attendance
    • 230 to 400 hours total
    • Note: the amount of work required fluctuates throughout the school year, with the heaviest workload typically occurring from mid-January to late May
  • Attendance at all required events and trainings, as well as a minimum of 35 hours of on-site recruitment event support throughout the recruitment season
    • Note: recruitment events are held during after school, evening, and weekend morning hours
  • $7,500 stipend ($3,750 in February and $3,750 in June)

Qualifications
  • Currently active BPS Teacher
  • Recommendation from BPS Recruitment Team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong commitment to a diverse educator workforce
