Building Principal

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to work with a diverse student population that requires constant administrative attention to student needs and general management. Must have had three (3) years of successful, full-time experience as a teacher, supervisor or administrator, one (1) year of which must have been in the elementary grades.

Knowledge of multiple content, PWPS curriculum, public school mission, goals, and organization, ability to work with instructional consultant, ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs, ability to utilize multi-media and computer technology, as appropriate, ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, principal, and parents, skill in oral and written communication, excellent human relations skills.

STATE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Must hold or be eligible for a Postgraduate Professional Certificate from the Commonwealth of Virginia with an endorsement in administration and supervision.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

To provide assistance to the school principal in implementing the total school program.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

•Work collaboratively with all stake holders in providing a world-class education.

•To assist the principal in the implementation, supervision and evaluation of the total school instruction program.

•To assist the principal in the selection, assignment, orientation, and evaluation of staff.

•To perform assignments and duties as directed by the principal. These may include: supervisor student teachers and volunteers, coordinate field trips and the textbook program, coordinate and supervise substitute teachers, coordinate bus duty, supervision of the school's safety program, security, environmental control programs, and implementing and monitoring student attendance.

•To assist the principal in the supervision of student conduct and extracurricular activities.

•To assist the principal in the departmental budgeting process and the acquisition of supplies and supplementary materials for instructional usage.

•To assist the principal in the coordination of programs and services supplementary to the instructional programs.

•To foster effective school and community relations.

•To promote good working relationships among staff members.

•Complete other duties as assigned.

SALARY:
Teacher Salary Scale. Length of Contract: 195 Days - Plus five (5) additional days to be worked with the mutual agreement of the principal any time during the school year.
