Salary/hourly rate: Band 14: $ 63,240. - $ 88,536.
Location: Central Office/As assigned

Provide key support on projects that must be carried through for the successful completion of the district's school performance initiatives. In this support role, the Analyst will contribute to the development of CMSD by helping to manage data collection with school-based and central office staff, assist with data analysis, and produce and distribute reports. Division of time should be approximately 50% to Say Yes-related work and 50% to district initiatives (some of which indirectly support the Say Yes work, like data governance) The Analyst will work on specific projects assigned by the Executive Director of School Performance

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and communications support necessary to put the Portfolio Office strategy and plans into action
  • Work with internal stakeholders to help develop standard processes for accessing and examining internal data systems
  • Analyze and summarize school and student data to help inform policy and practice
  • Prepare presentations that help for a wide audience
Say Yes to Education
  • Scholarship data support (including supporting the data flow, performing data validation/correction, acting as liaison with College Now and national Say Yes office around the CMSD data that supports local scholarship administration, and fulfilling scholarship board inquiries to inform eligibility decisions)
  • Postsecondary Planning System (PPS) support and integration (including: management of the flow of data, modification of algorithms and associated data points as CMSD and Say Yes needs change, and acting as liaison with local and national Say Yes office around the PPS platform)
  • Operating Committee academic task force: support for the data-driven investigation of root causes for hurdles along the path to postsecondary success for CMSD students
  • Strategic advising to ensure the rigor of studies of the implementation and effectiveness of Say Yes initiatives
  • Say Yes school selection: support to ensure the data-driven selection of schools for each Say Yes cohort until services are fully deployed in all schools
  • Initiate the work to fully take advantage of the CMSD's relationship with Say Yes
  • Fulfillment of other advising and data needs as needed

  • Data Governance
    • External data request working group
      • Project management and working group facilitation
      • Deliverable completion
      • Implementation of new processes
      • Development of a communication plan for input and rollout
    • Data request tracking and fulfillment
      • Shared responsibility for managing data request tracking and fulfillment process (rotating responsibility by month), includes obtaining the CEO's signature on new data- sharing agreements according to established process
      • Responsibility as assigned for the fulfillment of requests
      • Advocate for use of the established process for creating and fulfilling requests
    • Datamart redesign effort
      • Ensure the ability to provide all Say Yes data from the new data mart, allowing for full automation of the data feeds
  • Other district supports
    • Analytical support and strategic advising regarding the following areas: the Arts Plan, Gifted, and Humanware
    • Other analytical support and strategic advising as needed

Qualifications and Key Competencies:
  • Advanced degree in education or the social sciences preferred
  • Experience in R, SQL, and PowerBI
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Smartsheet
  • Project management and group facilitation skills
  • Understanding of data wrangling and research design methodology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize the vast array of efforts being undertaken both at CMSD and Say Yes and the ability to make recommendations accordingly
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Tenacity, resourcefulness, and the ability to interact effectively with people to acquire information and cooperation
  • Excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage priorities and balance multiple priorities, and relentless attention to detail
  • A personal sense of accountability for the success of Cleveland students
  • Sense of urgency balanced by sensitivity for good process and meaningful results
  • Experience working with large datasets from multiple source systems
  • BA/BS with 1-3 years of successful experience in data analysis, statistical reporting, or similar data-rich work required

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Expected moving, walking and standing consistent with an office environment and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds
