Position Summary: Certified parent educator will implement the PAT model which emphasizes parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum the parent educator will partner, facilitate and reflect with families.

Parents as Teachers Parent Educator Job Description
Position Summary: Certified parent educator will implement the PAT model which emphasizes parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum the parent educator will partner, facilitate and reflect with families.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or four-year degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology or a related field preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
- Ability to work with young teen parents
- Computer skills, including web browsing, e-mail, Internet, and word-processing
- Parent educator must complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings before delivering PAT services
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide personal visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being (includes planning, delivering, and documenting the visit)
- Use the PAT Foundational Curriculum to share research based information with families
- Complete an initial annual family-centered assessment with each family
- Complete at least an initial and annual developmental screening and health review for each enrolled child
- Develop, monitor and review goals with each family
- Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and address their needs
- Help parents and children transition to preschool, kindergarten, or other services as needed
- Engage in recruitment activities
- Provide group connections to families, including teen groups
- Maintain and submit in a timely way all required family and program documentation
- Attend at least monthly staff meetings
- Participate in 2 hours of reflective supervision monthly
- Obtain competency-based professional development and renew certification annually
- Participate in continuous quality improvement
