POSITION: IT-Senior Technician - District Sr. IT Lead & Support Specialist

Job Description: Albany County School District #1 is seeking candidates who have a passion supporting students and teachers while providing exceptional customer service. The desired candidate is energetic, skilled in desktop computer support, systems administration and Cisco networking. This position consists of many diverse responsibilities.

Customer Service

Perform tier 1, 2 and 3 computer with the knowledge, skills and abilities of application administration, data management, SQL queries and virtual databases.

Perform complex research to troubleshoot performance and reliability issues for students, faculty, and staff.

Help lead a helpdesk support function.

Respond to emergent needs of district personnel.

Networking

Assist lead network manager to install, configure, and support organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN).

Manage and maintain Enterprise voices systems.

Manage voice-over-IP systems, wireless access points in addition to switch and router configuration.

Systems Support and Maintenance

Maintenance and deployment of application-specific servers operating systems, and related applications for performance and 24/7/365 reliability.

Monitor and maintain server and system performance.

Manage cloud-based systems.

Teamwork

Work in a collaborative team environment.

Cross-train with other IT staff in other technical disciplines.

Cover IT staff while on annual or other leave.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to support and take the lead for Network and Systems managers. The qualified person must have an understanding of architectural development and management of Enterprise-class network infrastructure, must hold at least one technical certification (e.g., CompTIA Server+, CCNA, VCP5-DCV or higher, MCSE, MCSA, etc.) or be able to complete one of these certifications within one year of employment. Other desired qualifications include familiarity with Cisco routers and switches, have ability to be self-directed and solve problems, have emonstrable experience, skills and knowledge to manage and maintain voice systems, and possess a core understanding of Enterprise networking management. The desired candidate must be able to respond to system emergencies outside of normal work hours. Candidates holding an associate degree or higher with experience working in an educational setting similar to ACSD #1 is a plus.
