The West Seneca Central School District has an immediate administrative vacancy for Director of Special Education. The duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows...
1.Consistent with applicable laws and regulations, recommend District policies and objectives, and provide direction in matters relating to the requirements of students with special needs.
2.Serve as Chairperson of the Committees on Special Education.
3.Implement Special Education placements as recommended by the Committees on Special Education (CSE) and The Committees for Preschool Special Education (CPSE).
4.Participate in community and parental group activities.
5.Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum initiatives to meet the needs of students with special needs.
6.Utilize electronic based information and communication systems, supervise staff, and prepare statistical and other reports as necessary.
7.Other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.

Additional Job Information: QUALIFICATIONS:

1.New York State Certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader.
2.Comprehensive knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, ESSA, and New York State Education Law regulations as they apply to students with special needs.
3.Experience in collaborating with stakeholders in meeting the needs of students with special needs.
4.Experience in planning, organizing and directing activities related to the functions of the Committees on Special Education.
5.Experience in implementing and supervising Response to Intervention (RTI) and co-teaching models.
6.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
7.Ability to use electronic based information and communication systems.
8.Evidence of strong leadership and facilitation skills.
