Description
The Manager, Materials Inventory & Transportation supervises warehouse day-to-day execution and works to create efficiencies and drive down costs associated with supply chain operations. The three overarching objectives of all K12 supply chain positions are to:
1. Reduce unit costs
2. Drive innovation in all our processes
3. Improve our Customers' Experience

The position requires day to day balancing of these three objectives in the serving of 150,000 domestic and international customers with established service level objectives (SLAs).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

• Remotely supervises day-to-day activities of third-party warehouse teams contracted to K12. Primarily, these warehouse teams are located in the Louisville KY area;
• Reviews daily reports and other metrics to ensure all warehouse operators and other vendors are meeting contracted SLAs for throughput and other activities;
• Assists the Director of Supply Chain Operations in analyzing cost, variances and throughput results;
• Serves as point of escalation to K12's Customer Care team and other business operators to resolve any fulfillment/shipping related problem;
• Serves as primary super user for K12's proprietary order management system and creates daily order plans, monitors order and ship confirmation flow to and from the warehouses;
• Facilitates weekly operations meetings with vendors;
• Creates work orders and creates the schedule for the production of student course kits. This involves coordinating with our vendor to manage weekly capa
city during our peak kitting season and our required demand for fulfillment;
• Works closely with the procurement department as production plans are finalized based on inbound vendor purchase orders;
• Reviews transfer and inbound freight costs to ensure that K12 is receiving best possible rates, works with vendors as required;
• Monitors inbound vendor freight shipments to confirm deliveries are made as directed by K12;
• Works with carriers to: obtain quotes, coordinate pick-ups of freight being delivered to or shipping from K12;
• Provides international shipping quotes to all business line upon requests; maintains standard international shipping rates sheets;
• Handles and works with International carriers to validate addresses, contact information; resolves customs clearance issues with international carriers to ensure delivery in a timely manner;
• Coordinates any truckload (TL) or less than truckload (LTL) shipments to schools, or vendors; determines the most economical shipping method based on the order profile;
• Updates supply chain metrics on a weekly basis to reflect prior week's distribution facilities activities;
• Makes site visits as needed to distribution facilities approximately 4-5 times per year;
• Develops and maintains inbound shipping guide; works with material suppliers to ensure adherence to guide.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree AND
• Three (3) years of supply chain, warehousing or inventory management experience OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to travel 4-5 times each year to distribution sites located Kentucky
• Ability to work late and early morning hours during limited portions of our peak season.
