Essential Functions
- Communicates with schools and offices regarding pest management solutions and preventions.
- Inspects and oversees the work of pest control staff and outside contractors engaged in pest management activities.
- Schedules and supervises the integrated pest management service for BCPS. Reviews and assigns all incoming work requests for suspected pest infestation.
- Maintains a computerized record keeping system to store completed BCPS work orders. Records must be up to date and available upon request by Maryland Department of Agriculture.
- Maintains pesticide storage room in compliance with state agricultural regulations.
- Meets with Maryland Department of Agriculture Inspector to review record keeping, pesticide storage, transporting of pesticides, maintenance of trucks, etc. to ensure that program is in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Visits schools reporting presence of pests to verify necessity for treatment. Meets with administrator or designee to determine appropriate plan of treatment.
- Keeps abreast of latest pest management techniques and equipment.
- Prepares written documentation and reports.
- Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school boards policies and the professional standards.
- Ability to respond to emergency work requirements at any time and to work overtime and unusual hours.

Desired Qualifications
- Public Agency Applicators certificate from the Maryland Department of Agriculture Category IIV Industrial, Institutional, Structural and Health Related. (A) General (B) Termite (C) Bird (D) Rodent (E) Industrial Weed. Required certifications must be maintained throughout employment in this position or any other that requires these certifications.
- High school diploma or GED must be from an accredited school or institution.
- Five years of work experience, three years supervisory experience as a Certified Applicator of Pesticides in commercial or residential buildings.
- Thorough knowledge of environmental and health concerns, integrated pest management procedures, tools and equipment, pest identification and control recommendations and pesticide application techniques. Knowledge of biology and characteristics of target pest. Ability to plan and effectively supervise a comprehensive integrated pest management program for BCPS. Moderate computer skills required. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
