Our Essex Elementary School is seeking an experienced individual to step into the position of Student Management Specialist, starting November 1st until the beginning of March, 2020 to fill in for an employee absence. Position is 7.5 hours/day and pays $23.44 per hour.
Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:
-Analyzing student data to implement systemic responses to social/emotional school climate.
-Developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior intervention plans based on the outcomes of FBAs for students with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
-Creating behavior data tracking methods, training staff on data collection and tracking the data to determine effectiveness of behavior intervention plans.
-Collaborating with special educators, guidance counselors, classroom teachers, administrators, instructional assistants, school social worker, parents and outside agencies to create effective behavior support plans.
-Provide crisis management, including occasional restraint, to keep students and others safe.
-Handle all discipline referrals, including bus write-ups. This includes investigating the incident, gathering all facts, determining appropriate consequences and communicating outcomes to parents.
-Oversee and support lunch, recess, and dismissal periods and routines.
Qualifications for the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Psychology, Social Work, School Counseling or Education preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in providing behavior services (e.g. functional assessment, development and implementation of behavior intervention plans, crisis intervention) to students with behavioral disorders of autism also preferred.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Advanced understanding of behavior principles and instructional strategies for students with autism and other behavioral disorders.
-Flexibility and creativity in problem solving.
