The Paraprofessional works under the guidance of a MGLVA Michigan-certified teacher, assisting with instructional and administrative tasks, as well as student-specific care needs, based on the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) document. Job duties for the Paraprofessional include some or all of the following: Assisting teachers in live instruction; sending communication about attendance or other relevant class interactions; supporting evaluation of student performance in online systems; updating and maintaining the student MGLVA OLS (online school) account, and performing some clerical work. In addition, the paraprofessional will support student care needs in their Ithaca, MI home. Please only apply if you are able to commute to Ithaca every school day from 9-3pm.

AS A Special Education Paraprofessional Teacher, YOU WILL ENJOY...
Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.

AS A Special Education Paraprofessional Teacher, YOU WILL ENJOY...
- Assists with live instructional sessions;
- Enters daily attendance for the student
- Supports student-care and/or functional needs at home during school.
- Helps collect and send present level information for special education teachers;
- Helps the student navigate the daily OLS (online school) schedule and systems.
- Communicates and collaborates with the special education case manager to support Student instruction.
The paraprofessional will report to either Ithaca or Detroit and work with the student in their home every school day.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent AND
- Two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education OR
- Associate's degree OR
- Pass a formal State or local academic assessment verifying mastery of rigorous quality standards
This position is location in the student's home in Ithaca, Michigan. Hours are 9-3pm, M-F, school breaks and weekends off.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities
- High degree of reliability
- Ability to travel to student residence
- Possess a valid fingerprint clearance card
- Ability to pass required background check
