Direct the musical, cast actors, musicians, etc. Responsible for execution of the entire show including assuring that all elements that fall under the scope of work of the Musical Producer. Approves the work of the Musical Producer, sets timelines, rehearsal dates, etc. Keeps open lines of communication with students and families. This person will report directly to the Musical Director and the Obama administration.

100 hours of extracurricular pay at $16.90 an hour

Qualifications :
- Must be an experienced drama teacher with experience in the field of skilled directing.

- Demonstrate a history of directorial experience with high school aged students.

- Depth and breadth of knowledge in the genre of musical theater.

Essential Job Functions :
1. Build and maintain a successful musical program at Pittsburgh Obama.?

2. Work collaboratively with the Obama administration to select an age-appropriate musical for our students. ?

3. Conduct auditions in conjunction with accompanist, musical director, choreographer and other ?selected staff involved with the production. Work collaboratively with the Obama administration to finalize a cast list that is diverse and a direct reflection of our student body.

4. Hold and direct rehearsals - minimum of 4 hours per week (or the equivalent) from February - April. Increased rehearsal time will occur in the weeks leading up to the performance dates.

5. Devise and communicate rehearsal calendar in advance to administration and other adults ?working on the production.

6. Create detailed call sheet that includes all contact information.

7. Send detailed rehearsal schedule to all cast members and their parents. ?

8. Communicate with production staff regarding ideas for set design and instillation. ?

9. Keep accurate attendance records, parent phone and email contacts. ?

10. Coordinate efforts of parents to assist with publicity, program ad sales, costumes, etc. ?

11. Teach performing techniques to the actors in the show including, but not limited to: character ?development, pace, articulation, tone production and vocal projection. ?

12. If applicable, organize and rehearse a pit orchestra made of students, hired professionals, or a ?combination thereof.

13. Submit a formalized budget to school administration, annually, that includes projected costs for the production.

14. Engage in regular fundraising efforts to offset costs not covered by school administration. This amount will be discussed annually depending upon the show selected each year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature. Employee will be required to operate computer system for data entry, and have the ability to complete necessary paperwork. This position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks.
