The High School Academic Administrator/Principal directs and coordinates educational, administrative and counseling activities of high school students by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

The mission of MVCA is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships coupled with a rigorous curriculum along with a data-driven and student-centered instructional model. AS A High School Counselor, YOU WILL ENJOY...
  • Drives academic performance for department; Ensures conformance of educational programs to State and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities; As needed, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet State standards;
  • Manages teaching staff; Manages Lead Teachers and programs;
  • Helps articulate the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
  • Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school; Coordinates with teacher and K12 Enrollment regarding expulsions and withdrawals;
  • Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, State , and federal laws regarding including laws pertaining to special education, CTE, LAP and other categorical programs;
  • Develops and oversees implementation of the school's Student Achievement Improvement Plan.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 20 - 40 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Commute to Grand Rapids office two days per week. Other days are remote.
  • Master's degree AND
  • Five (5) years of educational experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

    Certificates and Licenses: Valid State teaching credential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, student database software; Web
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check Desired Qualifications
    • Experience as an online educator
    • Administrative experience for the appropriate grade levels
