Lake Forest Elementary School District 67 and Lake Forest Community High School District 115 are seeking a Director of Business Services.

Position Summary:

The Director of Business Services is a shared service position which is responsible for promoting the mission, vision, and values of Lake Forest Community High School District 115 and Lake Forest Elementary School District 67. The Director of Business Services will contribute to the business affairs of Lake Forest Schools in accordance with the policies and procedures of School District 67 and School District 115 to ensure sound fiscal responsibility as a way to create the best possible educational services.

Essential Performance Functions:
  • Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to performing all responsibilities.Interpret, apply, and explain the rules and regulations as they apply to school financial operations, and consult with Chief Operating Officer regarding such rules and regulations.Analyze financial and operational data and make appropriate recommendations.Supervise and evaluate the Business Services team.Coordinate and facilitate the daily operations of the Business Services including department meetings, annual calendar of events, etc.Identify areas of improvement related to business operations and procedures.Research, evaluate and implement best practices in financial and operational processes.Serve as an employee resource for various benefits including insurance and leaves of absence.Manage preparation of audit process and ensure timely completion of financial reports.Operate as Districts' FOIA Officer.Maintain confidentiality of school board, collective bargaining agreement, and other sensitive District information.Serve on the Special Education Cooperative (NSSED) Finance Committee.Participate in local, state, and national business official associations.

Shared Services Essential Functions:
  • Verify accounting procedures are performed in accordance with District internal controls, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Illinois Program Accounting Manual (IPAM).Prepare and monitor the annual budget.Complete short-term financial projections, and assist in the development of long-term financial projections.Maintain cash flow projections, and manage investment activities.Participate in the development of facilities, and capital projects plan.Oversee payroll, employee benefits, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and residency.Ensure business operations are performed in accordance with District policy, collective bargaining agreements, federal and state laws.Ensure timely completion of reporting including Annual State of Affairs, ACA reports, EIS reports, ESSA reports, transportation claims, TRS reports, IMRF reports, and wage, and tax statements.Coordinate purchasing and bidding for supplies and services in accordance with District policy and state law.Participate in collective bargaining negotiations.Facilitate Districts' Insurance Committee and 457(b) Investment Committee.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in Accounting, Business, Finance, Technology, or related field.Willingness to obtain the Certified School Business Official certification, currently enrolled in the Certified School Business Official program, or a valid Certified School Business Official certificateRelevant experience and/or post-secondary training in Business.Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, school-based business management systems.Ability to:
    • follow all Board of Education policies.communicate clearly and effectively - written and verbal.meet deadlines.
    Outgoing, friendly, and customer focused.Demonstrate leadership abilities, must be a team player.Work with speed, attention to detail, consistency, and organization.Maintain professional appearance.
