NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS :
Candidates must be New York State certified in Early Childhood, Childhood or Elementary Education. It is preferred that candidates hold a Bilingual extension and are fluent in Spanish. It is required that candidates attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.

Certified teachers from another U.S. State or territory including Puerto Rico may qualify for an initial certificate in New York if they meet the following requirements:
  • Have a valid teaching certificate that is equivalent to the title and type of the certificate sought and has no limits or restrictions;
  • Meet New York's general certificate requirements, including citizenship, training related to child abuse identification/reporting, school violence prevention/intervention, harassment, bullying and discrimination prevention/intervention, and a criminal history check;
  • Have at least three years of satisfactory experience in a public school dual language teaching position requiring an initial or professional certificate within five years preceding the application date or equivalent experience; and have had effective or higher evaluation ratings in the three most recent years of employment; and
  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution or higher education institution that the Commissioner deems substantially equivalent, with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher in the program leading to the degree.

DUTIES:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students enrolled in the school bilingual education program.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom for class activities.
  • Develop and provide to colleagues, when necessary, a variety of learning materials and resources for use in bilingual classrooms throughout the school building.
  • Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress and language proficiency.
  • Use relevant technology to support the instruction of language learners within bilingual classrooms.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development; monitor student progress.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
  • Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development.
  • Reviewing and analyzing student diagnostic screening, and progress data, as well as outcome assessment data, to assist in determining appropriate student interventions and necessary program modifications.
  • Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures and enforcing classroom, school, and district rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, and district meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Stay current with most recent developments in appropriate subject area as initiated by the school or district.
  • Plan and facilitate bilingual common planning meetings, present pertinent student information at all grade level meetings when necessary.
  • Cooperate with and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total school program.
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator
