Mastery Schools is seeking a part time Assistant Director of Specialized Services (ADSS) to support Mastery Charter Schools' Philadelphia campuses in implementing and coordinating English Language Learner (ELL) initiatives designed to support schools' success. The ADSS will play a pivotal role in ensuring an effective connection exists between programs developed by the central office academic and specialized services teams and their implementation at schools. In addition, the ADSS will ensure that actionable data and information flows efficiently and quickly between schools and central office functions. The ADSS will have a variety of ongoing, individual projects including coordination, information gathering and dissemination, and project management. The ADSS will report directly to the Specialized Services Director (who leads ELL work in Philadelphia).

The ADSS will work closely with central office leaders and Assistant Principals of Specialized Services in the ongoing evolution of a high performing urban school district.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate central office to school communication, develop efficient systems that provide schools with support, ELL related information, data, and proven strategies- all in support of ELL student outcome and the inclusion of ELLs and their families in school services, systems, policy, and overall school community
Coordinate school to central office communication, developing efficient systems to collect feedback on network supports and strategy
Develop systems to ensure functional central office departments are informed of federal and state ELL policy and their implications on how LEAs serve non- native English speakers and their families
Collect, analyze, and share out ELL data from multiple Mastery campuses
Maintaining accurate files and documents related to ELLs and migrant students as required by Title III
Manage a variety of projects at the school and network level
Other duties as may be required to ensure central office supports are effective and our schools and students are successful
Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in subject area
Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting
Documented experience using data-driven instruction to achieve significant student gains
Ability to coach and effectively communicate with teachers and instructional leaders
Ability to write instructional and compliance manuals and other supplemental documents
Ability to research and communicate federal and state policy that hold implications on how LEAs serve ELLs and their families
Strong listening and communication skills: ADSS will provide school facing, family and community facing workshops -all intended to inform participants and the network on best practice, policy, and values of all stakeholders
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred
5+ years teaching experience is preferred
Experience working with school leaders and presenting workshops in the content area is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in classrooms and office space-reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; Must be able to sit for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse and typing. Must have access to a vehicle (and valid driver's license) for traveling between campuses.
