After-School Instructor

Here's what you need to know:
KIPP NJ is looking for talented, motivated, mission-driven people to serve as instructors for our after-school program for students in grades K-4 in Camden.  Our goal for our after-school program is to provide our students with academic support and high-quality enrichment activities in a fun, engaging, supportive environment. 
After-school staff must be available no later than 3:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 12:00 on Wednesdays.  Instructors will work 12-18 hours per week, which will include paid time for regular trainings. 

Responsibilities

• Assist students with homework
• Support classroom management
• Gain the opportunity to lead groups of students on your own
• Manage students during dinner, recess, and program dismissal
• Support behavior management - incentives and consequences
• Attend staff meetings
• Attend trainings and professional development opportunities
• Co-facilitate fun, engaging, and positive classroom experiences for students
• Ensure safety protocols and procedures are upheld

Must Haves (i.e., key skills to succeed in this role)

• The ability to manage groups of 10 students on your own
• A high school degree or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children
• A commitment to continuously improving your skills at working with children, through training and coaching
• A growth mindset and responsiveness to feedback
• The ability to be flexible in a new program environment
• Zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor 
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude and energy, and motivation to take initiative

About Us
KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy (KCNA) in Camden, NJ, is part of KIPP New Jersey and the national network of KIPP Schools. Nationwide, KIPP operates free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students in under-served communities for success in college and in life. Opened in 2014 as Camden's first Renaissance School operator, KCNA provides guaranteed enrollment to all students in grades K through 8 living within its catchment area in South Camden. In 2018-2019, KCNA will operate three schools: KIPP Lanning Square Primary, KIPP Lanning Square Middle, and KIPP Whittier Middle.  By 2020, it will grow to a network of five schools that will ultimately serve over 2,500 students in Camden.
