Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education required.
  • Training in Specialized Behavior Management.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience working with appropriate aged students.
  • Familiar with laws and regulations governing education in Vermont, specifically Special Education Laws.
  • Good basic computer skills and experience with word processing programs. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to effectively, efficiently and regularly communicate and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, including students, peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and representatives of outside organizations.
  • Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and handle stress.
  • Special Education licensure highly recommended.


Essential Duties:

The Behavioral and Social Emotional Learning Coordinator position will work with the principal, teachers and other support personnel to build positive relationships with school stakeholders, collaborate and communicate effectively through a variety of methods, provide leadership of behavior management and supervision; facilitate the resolution of conflict; plan, organize and manage time and resources, to include but not limited to the following:

  • Manages and enforces school behavioral expectations, including attendance classroom alignment with school-wide goals.
  • Confers with students, parents, and teachers regarding student related policies.
  • Assists staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans.
  • Serves as a resource to staff regarding student management issues & social emotional learning.
  • Creates and coordinates education alternatives for students in need.
  • Develop Behavioral and social emotional learning plans.
  • Teach behavioral and social emotional curriculum.
  • Collaborates with staff, administrators, and parents through the response to intervention process.
  • Assists in the planning, developing, and implementation of student behavior plans.
  • Confers with students and administer appropriate consequences.
  • Openly communicates with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior.
  • Collaborates with the school psychologist, social worker and personnel to create and maintain research-based behavioral interventions and trains faculty and staff in those interventions. Reviews data related to student behavior through the student management system (PowerSchool)
  • Serves as the school's PBIS and Restorative Practices coordinator.
  • Attends appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP and 504 case conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc.).
  • Assists in the maintenance of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements. Compiles, analyzes, and shares student discipline data regularly, and use that data to make decisions
