Mountain View Charter Academy will be opening fall 2020 to make a difference in the lives of children in Colorado Springs, CO. This is an opportunity to establish a school from the very beginning - hiring your own staff and creating the ultimate safe learning environment for students.

NHA principals are responsible for the overall quality of their school. Their key areas of focus are to develop the leadership of deans, ensure high quality of student learning, full school enrollment, high staff engagement, and to be a partner with the community.

In this position, a director of school quality and a team of on-site instructional leaders will be there to support you every step of the way. Along with our result-driven curriculum and commitment to educating the whole child - academically, morally, and socially - you and your students will be set up for success.

Your Role

  • Coach deans and enhance their performance during weekly one on one meetings
  • Possess a growth mindset to improve personal and professional skills
  • Lead and ensure staff hiring process is of quality and find the best staff possible
  • Partner with community organizations, like teacher preparation programs, to support the school
  • Collaborate with other principals to share ideas and develop each other as leaders
  • Establish annual performance goals for the school and deans
  • Utilize data from myNHA to monitor and support school success and student outcome
  • Conduct classroom visits with school teams to assess quality, ensuring alignment to NHA's Classroom and School wide Framework
  • Develop and implement school policy and procedure - structure matters to our children
  • Plan and participate in school professional development
  • Collaborate closely with school registrar to plan and implement events to ensure full enrollment
  • Facilitate parent education and involvement to foster high parent engagement
  • Monitor staff engagement - ensure staff is properly trained, collaborative, receive full dean support, and are happy to come to work
  • Create and implement quality operation items such as school's master schedules, grant fund, school budgets, School Improvement Plan, intervention, special educations, etc.
  • Communicate with school's board of directors, attending all meetings, presenting a board report, ensuring high quality partnership
  • Collaborate with various Service Center departments to ensure the school is fully support
  • Model and ensure adherence to the NHA core values
  • Other duties as directed


Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent
  • A valid administrator license (if required for the state in which you are applying)
  • Proven track record of student academic success or significant academic gains in a principal role
  • Must have K-8 experience - know and love the kids you serve
  • Three years of principal experience preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills with the desire to be an outgoing spokesperson and relationship builder
  • Some travel required
