Job Summary

Plans, implements, and coordinates the Parent Academy, as well as all parent involvement program activities at the district level. Provides technical support to schools, parents and the community.

Essential Functions

1. Provides assistance to schools in planning, implementing, and coordinating all district parental involvement programs.
2. Assists with the survey of content and effectiveness of Parent Involvement programs and strategies to identify barriers and design strategies to increase parent participation.
3. Collaborates with, and provides technical assistance to, parents, principals, district staff, and the community. Assists with the development of the district/Local Education Agency (LEA) annual Parent Involvement Plan and policy.
4. Participates in the ongoing development, implementation, translation and distribution of District Parent Involvement Policies and practices.
5. Supports planning, development, training, and implementation of standards based programs and activities with appropriate stakeholders across district programs with parental involvement components.
6. Interacts with parents, outside agencies, businesses and community to enhance the understanding of Parent Involvement. Solicits support and assistance of district initiatives and priorities in coordination with other district departments/offices to build capacity for parent involvement.
7. Assists with monitoring and evaluation of Parent Involvement Centers. .
8. Locates and assists with purchasing of appropriate resources, instructional materials, supplies and equipment.
9. Supports Parent Involvement programs in collaboration with community partners such as the Early Learning Coalition, City of Jacksonville Department of Community and Recreation, Public Library, Jacksonville Children's Commission, Nemours, Healthy Start Kid Care, higher education institutions, museums, and various other local and regional groups.
10. Ensures district and school compliance with all aspects with state and federal guidelines related to parental involvement.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years teaching experience at the elementary, middle grades, or secondary level. Familiar with early childhood, elementary, middle school, and secondary reading and math, as well as curriculum knowledge in science.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education Certification in Elementary, Middle Grades, or Secondary Education. Secondary Education certification preferred.

• Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction pedagogy
• Working knowledge of school operations, Title I and NCLB guidelines, rules and regulations related to parent involvement
• Knowledge of School Improvement Plans
• Knowledge of Title I School Parent Involvement Plans related to student learning
• Knowledge of ESOL and ESE federal guidelines
• Knowledge of available district programs
• Strong technical writing skills
• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management, and database software skills
