GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Models and supervises activities and interventions for DSP's assigned to a designated group home. Manages on-call/ on-duty during the weekends. Provides and documents instruction designed to improve skills in a variety of domains and instruction designed to decrease/alleviate symptoms of concern, improve psychological well-being, increase independence and improve overall quality of life for the clients of the group home. Provides planned, structured instruction and support to build skills in the following domains: self-care, household, leisure/recreation, community participation, safety, communication, physical abilities, and social-emotional. In residences, maintain the household and, in community residences, cook meals. Provide on-going assessment of skills (data collection and analysis) and modify teaching techniques to improve achievement of client's goals. Under supervision; plans, implements, and supervises instructional, therapeutic, and behavioral activities for the residential portion of the assigned group home. Collaborates and communicates effectively with team members and families. Plans activities to support, reinforce, and help individuals obtain their identified goals. Develops goals and objectives pertaining to the residential portion of the individuals ISP or Treatment Plan under the direct supervision of the BCBA. Completes supervisory tasks and assists with household paperwork as assigned by Operations Manager. Reports to the Program Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Trains new employees' in the home
  • Provides employee training on new clients entering the program
  • Weekend On-Call Rotation
  • Ensures that the home is properly set up for any new client entering the home
  • Manages the ordering of protective equipment needed in the home
  • Manages the completion and implementation of activity schedules within the home
  • Ensures medications are delivered accurately and on time
  • Manages the completion of the weekly medication inventory
  • Completes qualitative documentation audits and ECR audits and follows through with employees' accountability to completion of paperwork
  • Audits MDT notes and ensures compliance with MDT schedule and attends meetings
  • Completes and collects household paperwork and submits to proper recipient
  • Manages shopping within the home for food and household item and delegates duties to employees'
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to provide continuity of support and care
  • Attends program meetings when needed
  • Provides for the well-being and safety of the clients
  • Follows infection control procedures
  • Understands and participates in the individual planning process
  • Uses the individual plan to become informed about client strengths, needs, preferences, interests, and accommodations needed.
  • Implements and promotes clients' achievement of educational and skill development goals
  • Implements the treatment/ behavior plan and trains employees' in implementation of plans.
  • Communicates with Treatment team members regarding client specific interventions
  • Builds trusting, respectful relationships with clients and families
  • Focus is on client progress - improving opportunity and quality of life
  • Manages behavioral crisis safely and in accordance with the treatment plan
  • Completes standard documentation
  • Ensures safe residence and school environment
  • Assists with household chores and assures a clean and tidy home
  • Assists with nutrition and, in group homes, with meal preparation
  • Provides transportation / community mobility
  • Assists with purchases and is accountable for monies; ensures all receipts are turned in promptly
  • Communicates with appropriate personnel any areas requiring attention, repair, etc.
  • Communicates appropriately with stakeholders - other employees, supervisors and managers
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of professional experience working with children one year of which must have been in a residential facility for children with a mental health diagnosis
  • Demonstrated Leadership experience
  • Requires a valid driver's license and a safe driving record

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • RBT trained and certified.
  • On-Duty trained within 3 months.
