General Description
Teaching in the clinical area in a classroom setting in the practical nursing program. This includes supervising students in a clinical setting.

Qualifications
Must have current and knowledgeable skills in long term and acute care. Working knowledge of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of instruction, learning theory and teaching methodologies and of current practices, tools, equipment, techniques of current nursing theory and practice, and techniques of computer programming. Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals for students; to prepare and monitor a budget; to provide work direction to others; to collaborate with other instructional personnel; to communicate instructional goals to others effectively, orally and in writing and in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships and planning.
Eligible for Virginia Collegiate Professional or Technical Professional Licensure. Must have had at least 2 years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse prior to employment with CCPS as a nursing instructor. Must also be CPR, AED, and first aid certified at the healthcare provider level.

- Positions may range from 1 class to 3 classes.
- Minimum annual salary is $8,659.
Essential Job Functions
- Plans instructional program; demonstrates skills; assigns and evaluates work. Administers methods to evaluate progress. Records progress and issues reports to students, parents and administrators.
- Teaches content and clinical skills: personal/vocational relations, anatomy & physiology, nursing skills, nutrition, medical surgical nursing, drug therapy calculations and geriatric nursing.
- Supervises students in a variety of clinical settings including long term and acute care.
- Teaches process skills: problem solving, critical thinking, teaming, technical writing and communication related to course content and employment.
- Teaches application skills through extensive acute care hospital experience, personal networked computers, co-curricular activities and school to work transition experiences.
- Advises assigned students as needed throughout the instructional program.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program.
- Design, implement, teach, evaluate and revise the curriculum.
- Develop and evaluate student admission, progression, retention and graduation policies within the framework of Chesterfield County Public Schools.
- Participate in academic advisement and counseling of students.
- Provide opportunities for student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and program effectiveness.
- Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
- Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
- Performs other work as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree with a major in nursing is required.
- Must have had at least 2 years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse prior to employment with CCPS as a nursing instructor.

- Must be First Aid/ CPR, AED certified and maintain current certifications.
