REPORTS TO : Principal

SUMMARY : S.T.A.T. Teacher provides support for the professional learning process through the lens of a non-evaluative coach of adult learners. They are the facilitators of job-embedded professional development that is aligned to the School Progress Plan and work collaboratively with the school principal to design and deliver high quality professional learning.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
  • Reviews and monitors the progress of the School Progress Plan along with the principal, AP and Instructional Leadership Team.
  • Facilitates meaningful professional learning opportunities for teachers.
  • Works with the administrator(s) and teachers to communicate the value and importance of the Teacher Development Plan.
  • Supports teachers in creating learner centered environments.
  • Models the use of the Universal Design for Learning framework to customize and personalize instruction.
  • Supports teachers' professional learning by guiding planning, securing resources (including time), and informing teachers of professional development opportunities.
  • Offers instructional assistance by building the teachers' knowledge base and increasing the repertoire of teaching skills.
  • Supports staff in efforts to improve student achievement by supporting grade level team or departmental meetings.
  • Ensures that the instructional staff uses data to plan, deliver, and assess instructional practices.
  • Engages teachers in collaborative and reflective practice.
  • Allocates time for professional development activities that enable teachers to work collaboratively and observe best practices within the normal work day hours.
  • Provides expertise in the integration of information literacy and technology skills through curriculum development, professional development, and collaboration with curriculum offices.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to facilitate the integration of technology across the curriculum.
  • Works with teachers to model, coach, and teach technology skills to meet the International Society for Technology in Education Standards for Students.
  • Facilitates learning walks to support the design of learner centered environments.
  • Models innovation and flexibility in support of district initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the parameters of the S.T.A.T. Teacher Guidance document.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience, Education and Training;
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the assignment; plus five years of successful teaching experience. Experience in the design, delivery, and assessment of professional development. Participation in the Leadership Development for prospective S.T.A.T. Teachers is preferred.

Must be designated as eligible for the S.T.A.T. Teacher candidate pool for the Baltimore County Public Schools.

Licenses and Certifications :
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Standard Professional Certificate.
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate in special education is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy. Knowledge of and skill in instructional coaching. Knowledge of and skill in adult learning theory. Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional development for preK through 12 educators. Knowledge of and skill in the use of technology to enhance student learning (i.e. content creation, collaboration, productivity). Knowledge of and skill in data analysis. Skill in communication, leadership, and human relations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to maintain confidential information.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
Work of this position is performed in school and office environments. Requires the ability to move throughout schools and classrooms. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities. Requires travel to schools and offices throughout Baltimore County.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
S.T.A.T. Teacher will be provided with monthly professional learning opportunities and must participate in these trainings in order to provide effective support to teachers and schools.

FLSA STATUS : Exempt

Eligible for the Maryland State Retirement System.

This class specification defines the types of duties and level of difficulty of work required of positions in this title. It shall not be held to exclude duties not mentioned nor limit the right of management to assign work to employees.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
