POSITION : The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SUPERVISOR OF OFFICE OF PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

QUALIFICATIONS : Candidates must hold a Master's degree and an administrator's certificate. Candidates must hold a valid New York State School Administrators Supervisor (SAS), New York State District Administrator (SDA), or New York State School District Leader (SDL) certificate. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of approved and appropriate teaching and supervisory experience, with a minimum of one (1) year in an administrative or supervisory capacity. Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in Federal and State guidelines as it pertains to Title I, Part A - Parent Involvement.

DUTIES : Under the supervision of the Office of Parent and Family Engagement Instructional Specialist III, the Supervisor of Office of Parent and Family Engagement will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • Serves as liaison between school district, parents, and community.
  • Works with professional personnel and parents to ensure student success.
  • Supports building administrators in establishing and implementing effective parent engagement programs.
  • Provides support to parents and schools to strengthen relationship between home, school and community.
  • Attends Title I and other educational conferences on the local, state and national level.
  • Serves as a resource to professional personnel.
  • Disseminates information to engage parents to schools, parents, students, volunteers, and community.
  • Coordinates trainings for Parent Engagement Liaisons.
  • Works with school personnel and outside agency to coordinate and manage Parent Engagement Liaison activities and payroll.
  • Coordinates districtwide parent activities all year.
  • Articulates needs of parents and devises parent training programs for parents and staff.
  • Serves as liaison for parent engagement in organizations and public agencies.
  • Assists parents and school staff with implementing local, state, and federal Parent Engagement program policies and procedures.
  • Develops and assists parents and school staff in developing parent resource rooms in schools.
  • Prepares an annual report including types of activities and indicating number of parents participating in each activity.
  • Attends evening and weekend meetings with functions in fulfilling duties of job description as required.
  • Protects confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and uses discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Disseminates books and other information regarding parent engagement goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with OPFE Instructional Specialist III to plan, organize, schedule, and monitor the operation of the Parent Centers.
  • Identifies, contacts, and obtains information regarding community-based organizations which may be of value to families via the Parent Centers.
  • Supervises OPFE staff (i.e. Community Education Leaders, Community Resource Leader, etc.).
  • Meets with community-based organizations and OPFE staff to discuss the quality of service rendered and to resolve concerns, as needed.
  • Maintains currency of information on effective parent engagement programs via Parent Centers through professional organization membership; reading literature of the field, conferring with counterparts in other school districts; attending meetings and conferences, visiting other effective Parent Centers, etc.
  • Complies with all aspects of the required Buffalo Public School District's Parent, Family, and Community Involvement Policy (BOE 3170); New York State Education Department's Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Section 1116 and NYSED Commissioner's Regulation Part 100.11.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
