Job Summary

General clerical work performing entrance-level human resource-related functions including accessing, researching, and/or entering data to the District's automated systems. Inasmuch as this is an entrance level clerical class in Human Resource Services for which the employee will participate in an on-the-job training program, the worker will be responsible for performing more complex work with a greater volume over time as a demonstration of appropriate progress towards successful completion of the on-the-job training program and his/her probationary period.

1. Establishes and maintains human resources files and associated records.

2. Responds to inquiries and provides information on human resources matters and issues.

3. Participates in an on-the-job training program to learn how to access, research, and enter data into the District's automated human resource information systems as well as other human resources-related functions.

4. Gathers information and assists School Board personnel, administrators, and general public in completing required forms and documents.

5. Reviews, researches, prepares, completes and processes a variety of human resources forms, records and files.

6. Prepares and types correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other office and human resource documents

7. Provides procedural guidance, assistance and training to other employees on human resources matters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines governing the District's human resources activities

Qualifications

Open Requirements: A one (1) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in clerical/secretarial work which must have involved the use of an automated human resources, payroll, and/or information system. Human Resource experience with SAP or comparable automated human resource systems for a large, complex organization preferred.

Licensing/Certification/Registration: None

Note: This is an entrance level class from which an employee may be promoted to the next level. Promotion is contingent upon meeting time and grade requirements, satisfactory service, passing a typing exam with at least 30 correct words per minute, and a recommendation from the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. A permanent employee in this class, however, is not required to promote to the next level and may continue in this class so long as he or she continually performs the essential functions of this class successfully.
