    Title: Orchestra Classroom Aide

    Qualifications: *Knowledge of academic principles used in vocational courses.
    *Knowledge of relevant applications of academic principles.
    *Ability to form positive professional relationships with academic and vocational teachers.
    *Ability to work with individual student needs.
    *Strong organizational skills.
    *48 College Credit Hours or the ability to pass a State Approved Assessment within 90 days of employment.
    * Working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and Word, Working in Windows 7 and a fairly high level of computer skills are necessary.

    Reports To: Vocational Coordinator; Building Principal; Vocational Programs Administrator.

    Supervises: Students

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
    The Orchestra Aide is a team member who works under the supervision of the Orchestra teacher. The aide frees the professional from routine daily tasks and also serves as a part of the team. The aide carries out the educational program developed by the teacher and support personnel.

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not all-inclusive)
    1. Must have a positive attitude about the students as young adults.
    2. Assist students in performing activities/lessons that have been initiated by the teacher.
    3. Hand out and prepare papers, supplies, and instructional materials; then collect them and store or put away as necessary.
    4. Assist with special advanced program.
    5. Reinforce learning for students who are having difficulty.
    6. Help grade papers, record and assist in paperwork when needed.
    7. Supervise outside activities.
    8. Support Teacher or other professional staff.
    9. Assist with non-classroom duties.
    10. Need to be a perceptive listener.
    11. In case of teacher absence help certified substitute continue the teacher's continuity of program.
    12. Assist with Orchestra tryouts and auditions.
    13. Make copies for teachers as needed.
    14. Organize, file, and handout sheet music.
    15. Help office personnel with needs.
    16. Perform other duties and responsibilities as determined by the supervising teacher and the Building Principal.
    Term of Employment: 9 Months

    Salary Range: Pay will range from $12.29 to $13.29 per hour.

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
