QUALIFICATIONS:

Appropriate PA teacher and guidance certification preferred.

BA required in appropriate major study. Masters preferred.

Strong motivational, communicate, and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively with individual students, teams of students and with a team of adults, both parents and staff.

Willingness to participate in shared decision-making, using styles of consensus and collaborative decision-making.

Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.

Ability to take direction as needed

Mastery of special styles of pedagogy (e.g., online learning, cooperative learning, learning styles and multiple intelligences).

Educational technology skills.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

SUPERVISES: Not applicable

JOB GOAL:

To ensure that each online student will think critically, communicate effectively, understand cultural heritage and diversity, respect human dignity and be responsible to self and community, and become a contributing member of society.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Organize and maintain all online courses, and where needed, equipment, in functioning order.

Routinely visit students' homes to monitor progress and check on technical issues.

Create online and classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning through organization.

Teach and apply internet and cyber safety principles as part of all instruction.

Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge in technology education.

Incorporate equipment and apparatus and use technology where possible to provide, monitor and supplement on line and classroom instruction if necessary.

Coordinate with cyber staff for computer and peripherals to issue to full-time virtual students; order, issue, collect and return hardware.

Manages, coordinates and executes swap-outs for malfunctioning equipment, and reissues to students.

Set up and manage parent, student and user accounts in multiple vendors' courseware as directed.

Transfer data, grades, Carnegie credits and needed information between multiple learning management systems.

Provide orientation to the equipment, program and courseware for students and parents and staff.

Routinely monitor and track and communicate feedback from vendor instructors to ensure learning

Maintain student print and electronic records including all required documentation of grades and credits earned in educational programs.

Support students' academic and emotional support development providing individual mentoring and support as needed.

Help students, parents/guardians to access a network of community services.

Communicate regularly with students, staff, and parents concerning progress and student development and services available.

Work flexible hours with in the limitation of the number of contracted hours; maybe split schedule in multiple buildings at times

Ten additional days above the contract

EVALUATION: Evaluation will be determined according to the District's Professional Evaluation Plan - Observation/Supervision/Evaluation Plan.

Physical Demands:

Sitting for limited and extended periods of time.

Physically active, standing and walking for extended periods of time; able to make home visits

Kneeling, bending, crouching, stooping, and squatting for limited periods of time.

Sensory Abilities:

Normal/Corrected vision.

Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screens. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.

Normal/Corrected hearing.

Temperament:

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Must have a positive attitude, cooperative spirit, and sensitivity in relating to student, staff, parents, and community.

Mental Demands:

Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communications. Frequently fast-paced, high pressure situations.

Environment:

Normal classroom environment, online environment, homes of students.
