PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:
Salary as per BTA Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Develop and implement a high quality, rigorous health education curriculum which will promote students' comprehensive understanding of all areas of health and wellness.
- Provide health education instruction to a wide range of students with disabilities at the middle and high school levels.
- Make recommended program and instructional recommendations for growth in the district's Social/Emotional learning plan
- Support the Southern Westchester BOCES Mission, Vision, Values and Goals in all instruction, decisions and actions.
- Develop, design and implement differentiated lessons and programs to address specific student learning challenges.
- As requested, collaborate with instructional teams in the preparation of student IEP's, BIP's and CIP's.
- Work collaboratively with building-level teams to support students academically, socially and emotionally.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related-service providers to identify and provide opportunities for students to explore life and career goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the support of students in their endeavors to maintain satisfactory classwork, homework, and behavior.
- Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
- NYS Health Education teaching certification.
- Up-to-Date knowledge and understanding of the New York State Learning
- Standards for Health, Physical Education and Family Consumer Sciences, as well as with the Next Generation Learning Standards.
- Familiarity with National Health Education Standards.
- Dual certification in Special Education preferred
- Three (3) years of health education teaching experience preferred
- Excellent written, speaking and listening skills
- Understanding of the continuum of services for Students with Disabilities, including autism
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention preferred
