Job Description
Job Goal:
To serve the students and staff of the New Bedford School District, nutritious, safe and attractive meals in a friendly and efficient manner. Substitute cashiers will be deployed to various sites in the District as needed.

Qualifications:

• Mathematical and clerical ability to record meals, inventory and to operate a computer for lunch charges
• Able to work in an efficient, courteous, and cooperative manner with the staff and student population
• Able to communicate positively in a team environment
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Maintain the ability to stand, reach, lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb, push, and pull items weighing up to 40 lbs. Able to stand or walk
95% of the workday
• Maintain the minimum training requirements under the Professional Standards Final Rule
• Cashiering and basic computer knowledge preferred
• Food safety and sanitation certificate preferred
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Performance Responsibilities:

• Able to operate Point of Sale System to process meal charges
• Receive payments for all meals and a la carte items and enter accordingly
• Monitor all student meals and ensure the required components are on tray
• Set up and manage cash drawer. Accurately count and record cash total each day
• Bring all monies to head cashier/ manager for reconcile and deposit
• Maintain all cash receipts and reports required by food service department

• Responsibly manage snack station and accompanying cash box or drawer
• Use proper food handling techniques (hand washing methods, gloves, and hair restraints) as needed
• Perform any and all other tasks as assigned by Cafeteria Manager
• Interact in a professional and courteous way with students and staff. Report any problems to the Cafeteria Manager
• Follow all cash handling procedures in the department

TERMS:

Reports To: Cafeteria Manager
Hours: 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM Monday- Friday
Position Type: Part-time

Salary: $12.30 to $12.30 Per Hour
