SUMMARY:
The job of Family Service Representative at the ECEAP and Head Start programs is done for the purpose of providing support and referrals to families requiring assistance; providing information on services available; conveying information regarding school, procedures; and referring families to other agencies.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. Starting in the fall of 2012, the Highline community came together to develop a four-year strategic plan outlining the community's bold goals and big dreams for its children. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Arranges interim transportation for the purpose of assisting students and/or family members in receiving required services and/or meetings. - Assesses student and family needs (e.g. financial, medical, parenting skills, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing individualized plans of services to support educational objectives. - Coordinates workshops for parents and/or students (e.g. parenting skills, community resources, district programs, social skill development, etc.) for the purpose of assisting parents in maintaining a positive home environment, building trust between family and district and supporting child's needs. - Coordinates activities with a variety of outside services agencies, school sites, etc. (e.g. mental health, probation, medical, etc.) for the purpose of providing referrals for families and/or students. - Ensures district compliance with regulations governing young children for the purpose of preventing breeches in district responsibility to children and families. - Maintains case records for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with mandated requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST: ECEAP AND HEAD START PROGRAMS - Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. - Responds to requests for intervention for the purpose of addressing needs of the student and/or their families in situations that could negatively impact economic success, health, mental health and crisis assistance. - Responds to all inquiries for the purpose of providing information on community support services and/or educational programs. Other Functions - Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
6 months work experience in early childhood education Associate degree in social or human services or related field, plus five years' experience working in the community with families/adults with limited resources or case management experience; OR Bachelor degree in related field plus 2 years' experience working in the community with families/adults with limited resources or case management experience; OR Master degree in social work with 1 year experience working in the community with families/adults with limited resources or case management experience.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
:
Current or former parent of a student in Head Start or ECEAP program Experience with Head Start and/or ECEAP program Bilingual in Spanish/English or Vietnamese/English

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance Valid WA State driver's license and proof of insurance Tuberculosis Clearance obtained within 30 days of hire Initial Health Exam completed within 30 days of hire First Aid and CPR certification obtained within 90 days of hire and maintain certification
