SUMMARY:
The position of events manager coordinates school and community athletics events taking place at the district stadium and campus sites to include hands-on management of stadium football, soccer and track and field events and tournaments held at campus sites. Performs related office duties to include development/distribution of events staff schedules and tournament bulletins. This position is responsible for financial operations relative to school and community events and other duties assigned by the director of athletics.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. Starting in the fall of 2012, the Highline community came together to develop a four-year strategic plan outlining the community's bold goals and big dreams for its children. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Assists the Director of Athletics in the implementation of a comprehensive interscholastic athletics program. - Coordinates use of the district stadium by school and community users to include writing practice schedules and completing required rental documents. - Manages school football/soccer contests held at the district stadium. - Manages middle and high school track and field meets. - Monitors events staff by maintaining active, visible involvement at events and ensuring adherence to established procedures. - Monitors cash handling during events, ensures receipts balance and deposits money from gate receipts following required procedures. - Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, handbooks, schedules and records in the area of assignment. - Coordinates and trains events staff for school and community use activities. - Interviews and recommends staff for hire to the Director of Athletics.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
EVENTS MANAGER - Maintains events staff database and assists with tracking coaching certifications. - Schedules use of swimming pools for district-wide interscholastic swim program. - Assists with the development of schedules for middle and high school sports teams and maintains the schedules database. - Compiles and records athletic events results and season standings for each sport. Provides scores/standings to community members, league athletic directors, and media upon request. - Compiles information on the participation of student athletes in each sport. - Updates tournament information bulletins. - Determines equipment needs and monitors safety/security of stadium facility. - Manages key inventory and checkout/distribution to events staff. - Ensures school events are in compliance with applicable WIAA, league and district rules by attending events and monitoring the application of regulations. - Responds to inquiries and/or complaints from staff and/or the general public regarding events-related concerns. Other Functions: * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: B.A. degree in sports management, athletics administration, physical education, recreation or related field Three years of experience in related field



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
:
Experience in track and field management or significant knowledge of track and field events

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance Washington State Driver's License Current First Aid/CPR/AED and Concussion Training Certifications or willingness to complete within 30 days of hire
