Position Summary Purpose or Summary Statement of Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Position: This position will oversee the Office of Student Health and Wellness' Healthy CPS efforts. The Healthy CPS Project Manager provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of school health and wellness programs and policies designed to eliminate health related barriers to learning and advance health equity.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Oversee outreach, guidance and support provided to schools to help them achieve OSHW goals, particularly for Healthy CPS.

  2. Oversee implementation of technical assistance strategies for schools implementing Healthy CPS initiatives.

  3. Lead strategy development for internal and external communications and coordinate communication collateral materials for Healthy CPS initiative.

  4. Collaborate with relevant CPS departments and facilitate relationships to ensure internal alignment of efforts to achieve OSHW goals.

  5. Cultivate and maintain relationships with organizations providing health and wellness services in Chicago Public Schools.

  6. Assist with development, implementation, and enforcement of policies that promote student health.

  7. Conduct outreach and facilitate relationships with community stakeholders, parents and other interested groups.

  8. Implement strategies that maximize the sustainability of Healthy CPS.

  9. Manage project budgets.

  10. Monitor and track project and/or grant deliverables and progress; report to relevant stakeholders.

  11. Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications Type of Education Required:

Master's degree in public health or related field.

Type of Experience and Number of Years:

  • At least two years' experience in project management experience required.

  • Three- five years' experience in program development and implementation.

  • Must be proficient with the use of computers and software including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Adobe Creative Suite (a plus).

  • Leadership and supervision experience preferred.

  • Experience in project management concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Experience working with school staff to implement programs.

  • Experience with communication material development and communications marketing strategies.

  • Experience leading and forging productive collaborations.

  • Exceptional writing, verbal and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.

  • Keen analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to think "big-picture" as well as to translate ideas into realistic, actionable plans.

  • Ability to handle and respond to competing priorities.

  • Ability to synthesize and apply information for different audiences.

  • Ability to collaborate with other CPS departments, with a high level of personal investment in contributing to the priorities of the organization as a whole.

  • Experience and adeptness in meeting facilitation.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be highly organized and flexible.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulation.

  • Experience in grant writing, implementation and management.

  • Possess integrity and tact when dealing with confidential information and sensitive situations.

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred.



Residency Requirement :

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
