BuffSci is seeking a reliable, punctual, high-energy individual who loves educating youth to make a difference by joining our outstanding team of educators as a Reading Specialist for grades K-2.
BuffSci needs a talented, positive, honest candidate to support our school culture and model strong leadership skills while facilitating classroom lessons and activities for K-2 students. Our school seeks individuals who are outstanding communicators, demonstrate great organizational skills and who will maintain a high level of energy while supporting and assisting our students during the school day.
Qualified candidates must pass background clearance and have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Master's Degree in Education and NYS Teaching Certification are preferred. Previous experience is a plus. Specialized training in areas listed below are a plus.
Qualified candidates must have a solid knowledge of the elementary context; working knowledge of theory and research on the current best practices and instructional materials in reading; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers and administrators; excellent organizational and communication skills; and the ability to evaluate instructional methodology related to approved reading curriculum and standards.

- Work with particular groups of students to provide remedial or enrichment support services
- Identify students in need of additional instruction
- Provide targeted instruction during push-in and/or pull-out classroom situations
- Collaborate with General Education Teachers to implement early intervention strategies for the prevention of reading deficiencies
- Collaborate effectively with staff, sharing expert content and instructional knowledge and resources while demonstrating creativity, flexibility and responsiveness to influence and support educational efforts to improve the teaching and learning of reading
- Administer, score, record and report the results of assessments for student progress
- Communicate regularly with parents and school administration regarding student progress
- Maintain standards of student behavior for an orderly classroom environment
- Support positive school culture and maintain professional demeanor
