Title: Bus Para Trainer
Reports to: Director of Special Education and Transportation
Position Purpose: To ensure that buses are properly staffed with appropriate paraprofessionals and that special needs students are properly transported to, from, and between learning environments.
Qualifications: High school diploma; quality communication and interpersonal skills; exhibits sound judgement; adaptable to a variety of situations; fundamental understanding of special education students; good health
Physical/Emotional Requirements: (The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the working day.) Speaking, hearing, manual dexterity, mobility, lifting (as much as 45lbs), pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, sitting, handling a variety of stressful situations, flexibility in adjusting to varied levels of persistence, ability to maintain good records, and ability to effectively communicate with adults.
Performance Responsibilities:
Terms of Employment: 10.5 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
Significant Associations: The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Act as a Bus Paraprofessional as needed
- Induct, orient and conduct inservice for Bus Paras and Substitute Paras
- Schedule bus para coverage for specified routes
- Make recommendations regarding the use of Bus Paras on buses and bus routes
- Evaluate Bus Paras performances and make employment and retention recommendations
- Assist Bus Paras in job improvement
- Monitor misconduct notices for special needs students and Bus Paras response procedures
- Collect and process Bus Paras response procedures
- Develop training videos
- Other duties as assigned
