POSITION SUMMARY:
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for coordinating employee relations services, including handling of employee grievances/complaints, conducting investigations of alleged employee misconduct, managing the termination and/or nonrenewal of employment, and interpreting/administering personnel policies of the District.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Explains and provides advice to employees about district policies, regulations, and procedures, and need for compliance.
- Conducts investigations related to employee misconduct--collects information, interviews involved individuals, analyzes evidence and facts, and makes recommendations for corrective/disciplinary action that adheres to school district policies and associated employment law. Develops clearly written investigative summaries after investigation is concluded.
- Researches relevant laws, regulations, policies, and precedent decisions to prepare for and advise management regarding employee relations and general human resources issues.
- Facilitates the District's grievance process.
- Assists managers with employee performance management.
- Assists with EEOC complaints.
- Works constructively with employee organization representatives.
- Oversees the termination/nonrenewal process.
- Under TKES, LKES, and EPAT: Provides support to staff and administrators to ensure that evaluation deadlines are met in a timely manner.
- Develops clearly written investigative summaries after investigation is concluded.
- Updates messages on the TKES and LKES Website and Electronic Platform to provide current and accurate information.
- Participates and attends necessary trainings or webinars required by the GADOE to stay abreast of current training techniques, policies and procedure.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
- Required to at tend sc heduled shift during regular/ business hours as mandated.
Requirements: EDUCATION:
- Bachelor?s Degree required; Master?s Degree preferred
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a Georgia PSC Clearance certificate.
- Three years of related experience in human resources/employee relations issues is required
- This position requires knowledge of and experience in conducting employee relations investigations and developing recommendations for addressing employee relations issues that adhere to employment policies and associated employment law.
- This position requires knowledge and skill in the use of personal computers and their software.
- Incumbent must have a thorough working knowledge of employment-related issues and policies.
- Incumbent must have excellent skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communications, excellent analytical and problem solving abilities, and excellent skills in organizing and conducting events.
