QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of indoor and outdoor recreational activities suitable for children of pre-school age and the knowledge of approved techniques and methods of child supervision.

Must possess the skill to learn effective and appropriate techniques and practices utilized in preschool education; read and write English at a level sufficient for successful job performance; effectively supervise a group of children in varying activities; effectively understand and follow written and oral instructions; construct charts and other learning aids appropriate for pre-school children; effectively communicate and relate to pre-school children in a positive and sensitive manner.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Twelve postsecondary semester units or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development completed at an accredited or approved college or university, and at least six months of work experience in a licensed day care center or comparable group child care program.

BILINGUAL PREFERRED

A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: To provide instruction, care, and supervision of pre-school age children in a day- care setting. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a school site administrator or his/her job designee within a framework of well-defined policies and procedures. This job class performs a variety of responsible activities related to the instruction, care, and supervision of pre-school age children and requires the skill to communicate/relate to designated children in a positive and sensitive manner.

STARTING SALARY: $2,283.30 (monthly)

NUMBER OF MONTHS: 9.4 (to begin as soon as possible)

NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours to be 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
