A valid NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education B-2 and 1-6 is required.
Additional qualifications include: Demonstrated ability to provide targeted instruction to academically at-risk students in a 12:1:1 Self-contained setting. Extensive knowledge of NYS CCLS in grades 3-5; Knowledge of and ability to implement strategies to address the needs of diverse learners; Experience utilizing formative assessments to inform instructional decision making; Skilled at working with diverse student populations; Knowledge of PBIS and the ability to implement behavioral and positive effective classroom management strategies. Demonstrated ability to implement behavioral deescalation strategies such as TCI or other behavioral supports. Experience with effectively managing student behavior, functional behavioral assessment and development of behavioral intervention plans are preferred; Capacity to utilize technology to enhance practice; Interest in actively participating in the school community outside of the classroom.
