Additional Job Information: Duties: 1. Assess difficulties of referred students through the use of appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
2. Interpret testing results to school personnel, parents and students.
3. Recommend intervention procedures to be implemented at home and in the classroom. Recommend placement in a specific remedial or therapeutic program.
4. Conduct counseling for students when appropriate or refer students to appropriate agencies.
5. Evaluation, identification, placement and monitoring of children requiring special education services.
6. Report to the Committee on Special Education regarding special education pupil?s progress at least annually.
7. Make appropriate recommendations to the Committee on Special Education.
8. Prepare and submit required reports and paperwork.
9. Attend staff, professional and interagency meetings.
10. Keep current with new developments in the field
11. Aid in the implementation of all state regulations for the education of disabled students.
12. Work as an integral team member in a class for students with high management needs.
Anticipated Employment Dates: September 4, 2019 thru October 31, 2019
- NYS Certified School Psychology, 2+ years experience preferred.
- Appropriate counseling experience, specialized training/coursework
- Demonstrated ability to work with peers and administrators, demonstrated willingness to learn and grow in order to better meet the needs of students
- Demonstrated ability to provide emotional support to children with behavioral, social and academic needs and the demonstrated ability to perform assessments, develop and implement therapeutic interventions with children and families.
- Knowledge of school practices
- Experience with special education, CSE chairing and Section 504
- Proven ability to maintain and establish positive relationships
