Position Summary

The Director of Business Solutions is responsible for understand ing the organization's operating model and applies a deep understanding of information systems and processes to implement business systems that meet organizational goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Technology , t he Director of Business Solutions leads the Business Systems team to implement and maintain ent erprise systems , p rovide design, development and implementation consultation , p erforms business process and technical analysis , a ct as the liaison for outsourced system service providers , and p rovide technical support as required .
Responsibilities

  • Lead the Business Systems t eam to design, develop and implement technical solutions to support the organization's strategic and business goals
  • Provide leadership on project initiatives by assur ing proposed projects meet well-defined business requirements and are delivered in accordance with the agreed-upon scope, schedule, financial objectives, and quality measures
  • Partner with organizational stakeholders to develop and maintain an enterprise architecture and ensure new business systems meet architectural guidelines
  • Remain abreast of new innovations and technology trends and ensure the same for the department staff in order to create effective business system s roadmaps
  • Identify innovative solutions to business needs or opportunities to improve existing processes .
  • Optimize relationships with business technology vendors in order to support strategic and current business technologies and to assist the procurement team in technology acquisition
  • Guide Business Systems staff to achieve the best balance of technical excellence, business value and cost management
  • Conduct staff planning, interviewing and hiring and provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, staff development, and performance management
  • Manage assigned budget areas by forecasting, monitoring, and responding to variances while maximizing and being a good steward of NWEA resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization

  • Ability to share and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors, managers, and technical resources in clear concise language that is appropriate to the target audience
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire staff to achieve excellence and to effectively and successfully manage change
  • Proven ability to leverage best pr actices and process frameworks to drive continuous improvement
  • Skill working in multiple Hardware and Software environments and the ability to navigate successfully in complex system environments
  • Knowledge of application and infrastructure security processes and tools
  • Deep understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers and success measures necessary to meet business needs
  • Ability to advocate ideas and to objectively participate in design reviews
  • Demonstrated understanding of how his/her role affects the end-user partner or other team members/departments involved in serving the customer
  • Proven ability to create and organize action plans that are implemented on time, within budget, and meet organizational goals
  • Strong business acumen with the p roven ability to apply problem-solving skills to assist in making decisions that affect the success of the organization
  • Ability to e ffectively appl y interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships and to influence the actions or behaviors of others
  • Ab ility to work effectively with others to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems
  • Must be able to perform the physical and intellectual requirements of the role, with or without accommodation
Education and Experience

  • Bach elor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information s ystems or related field ; a dvanced degree in business, computer science or information technology preferred . A n equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 10 years experience leading IT functions with a broad exposure to various technical environments and business segments
  • Minimum 5 years managing large-scale IT projects that include multiple large, cross-func tional teams or projects
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in identifying, implementing and supporting enterprise business systems , including work with h osted service providers and technology vendors
