POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst (Innovation) supports the Office of Innovation in all aspects of funding and budgetary issues. The incumbent serves as the liaison working with various departments within the APS finance division and with the Georgia Department of Education to process school allocations and grant reimbursements, complete required financial reporting, maintain account/activities setup, budget transactions and purchase orders. The Financial Analyst will monitor, record, report required financial activities for the Office of Innovation, and provide financial modeling related to charter and partner school enrollment. Additionally, the Office of Innovation Financial Analyst serves as a resource for schools in regards to funding allotments and projections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Calculates charter and partner school funding allotments and requests appropriate ACH payments
• Monitors charter and partner schools' financial health, including reviewing audited financial statements and other financial reports from schools
• Oversees the reconciliation of charter and partner school invoices for APS services, reviews discrepancies and verifies transactions
• Reviews and provides analysis on budgets and narratives submitted in all start-up and renewal charter applications
• Completes consolidated application for all state grants involving charter schools and processes grant reimbursements
• Manages compliance for charter and partner school participation in mandatory state and district financial reporting; provides assistance to APS accounting department on financial reviews
• Serves as a resource to charter and partner schools
• Works collaboratively with the finance division to create workflows that impact the Office of Innovation and partner in the development of the district's charter and partner school allotment projections
• Assists the executive director with the department's budget development
• Performs variance analysis for the department's budget and provides monthly and quarterly financial reports to the executive director
• Reconciles the department's purchase card and provides a monthly report to the executive director and to the purchasing department
• Provides research and analysis to assist with management decisions
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated

Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
� Bachelor?s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or other related field required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
� CPA and/or State Financial Management certification preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE:
� 3 years of school/government accounting or related financial experience required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
� Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles and state QBE funding
� Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences
� Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
� Ability to establish and accomplish goals and objectives
� Ability to work effectively within a complex organizational structure
� Ability to effectively problem solve
� Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
� Ability to compile, organize, analyze, interpret and communicate accounting data concisely
� Skilled in collecting, analyzing, organizing, and making calculations and projections with complex financial data

Compensation: Salary Grade: 129
Salary Range: FY'20 APS Salary Schedule (All Positions)
