Job Description
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Massachusetts Teacher Certification (ABE Licensure preferred)
3. Experience teaching adult learners in ESOL, ABE, or GED content areas.
4. Ability to adapt teaching style and techniques to the needs of adult learners.
5. Sensitive to the needs of multi-cultural, diverse adult learners.
6. Willing to certify to administer required ABE assessments.
7. Familiar with college and career readiness standards for adult education.
8. Knowledge of PC computers, MS windows and MS Office Applications and the integration of technology in the ABE classroom.
9. Proficient with a variety of ABE and ESOL software.
10. Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting PC hardware.
11. Must have ability to install/uninstall software.
12. Must have an understanding/knowledge of computer networking.

Performance Responsibilities:
1. Assesses learner's initial and ongoing technology functioning levels.
2. Develops a program of study that meets and accommodates student assessment outcomes, individual needs, interests, abilities and goals.
3. Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and plans instruction effectively.
4. Makes learning goals clear to students and communicates high expectations and encourages students to transfer learning to their roles as family members, workers and citizens.
5. Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to increase student learning and confidence.
6. Plans meaningful assignments for volunteer tutors to assist learners most in need of support.
7. Maintains and prepares accurate and complete records In a timely manner.
8. Participates in Common planning and works with the curriculum facilitator to align curriculum with the college and career readiness standards for Adult Education.

9. Works closely with Educational and career advisors to ensure student perseverance and positive student participation.
10. Actively plans with the ESOL or ABE teacher to devise lessons which integrate technology into the curriculum.
11. Works closely with administrators, advisors, volunteer-tutors and colleagues to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages students to raise issues and take risks.
12. Attends required meetings, participates in staff/program development activities and is receptive to changing program requirements.
13. Maintains collegial relationships with all staff members.
14. Provides technical support and assistance in the computer lab.
15. Troubleshoots hardware problems.
16. Installs software, trains staff in use of software and prepares documentation on use of software packages.
17. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the manager of adult education and/or designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
In accordance with the provisions of the N.B.E.A., Unit A Contract.

HOURS: Monday and Wednesday
(Common planning conducted monthly on Tuesday evenings 6:00PM - 9:00 PM)

LOCATION: Division of Adult/Continuing Education at NBHS

RATE: In accordance with the N.B.E.A. Unit A Contract

REPORTS TO: Adult Education Manager / Coordinator

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Massachusetts Teacher Certification (ABE Licensure preferred)
3. Experience in teaching high school level material to adults of diverse academic ability.
4. Ability to adapt teaching style and techniques to the needs of adult learners.
5. Sensitive to the needs of multi-cultural, diverse adult learners.
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the integration of technology in the ABE classroom.
7. Certified to administer required ABE assessments (willing to certify)
8. Familiar with College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education
9. Experience in maintaining individual records and reports.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a non-union position.
