As a fellow team member, whether for a single day or a longer assignment, substitute teachers help us to reach that goal by providing high quality educational opportunities for our students when their regular classroom teachers are unavailable due to illness, professional development or other reasons. As a substitute teacher, you will be responsible for classroom management, delivering the lessons left for you by the regular teacher, and leaving feedback about how the day progressed.
Position Requirements
  • Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate
  • Instruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instruction
  • Follow lesson plans as required by school and District policy
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with the lesson plans
  • Address the various learning styles of students accordingly
  • Model correct use of spoken and written English language
  • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching
  • For long-term assignments, you may be required to develop lesson plans; create, administer, and grade tests/assignments; participate in parent-teacher conferences; and attend school related functions. Please note: activities may occur outside of normal school hours
Classroom Management
  • Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with District, school, state, and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protest equipment, materials, and school property
  • Remain in classroom and monitor students at all times
  • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the Building Administration immediately
  • May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree (in any subject area)
  • Certified candidates and candidates enrolled or planning to enroll in certification programs preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Belief that all students can achieve at the highest levels
  • High standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
SALARY
Daily Rate: $110/day
