We are seeking a full-time Early Intervention Specialist to support children and families in understanding and acquiring early intervention resources and developing strategic practices that reflect the family's needs, priorities and goals for their child's development and school readiness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct home visits with families to provide an overview of early intervention services, discuss families' questions and concerns about child development, and facilitate the referral, evaluation and service provision process
  • Collaborate with internal and external service providers to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and ensure IFSP outcomes reflect family preferences, areas of concern and resources
  • Review assessments (i.e. Brigance, ASQ) to identify families with children who may benefit from early intervention services and to track developmental progress and areas of regression and delay
  • Mentor home visiting staff around early intervention best practices, early childhood development, using and interpreting assessment tools, and creating lesson plans that encourage sensory, physical, cognitive and emotional stability and development
  • Participate in and facilitate case conferences
  • Maintain detailed progress reports
  • Enter, maintain and review pertinent data for internal and external auditing purposes
  • Comply with all regulations, policies and procedures as directed by the New York State Bureau of Early Intervention, New York City Early Intervention Program and the Harlem Children's Zone
  • Attend appropriate trainings and workshops

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, Special Education, Psychology, or Social Work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Early Childhood Development
  • Familiarity with the Harlem community and related resources for children and families
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in an early intervention or early childhood setting
  • Prior home visiting experience a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Child Plus data management system a plus
  • Prior experience with the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) and Brigance assessment tools a plus
  • A commitment to the mission of Harlem Children's Zone
  • Bilingual English/French or English/Spanish a plus
