General Statement of Job
Under the direction of the ThriveRichland Coordinator, and in collaboration with school leaders, supports the goal of providing a world-class education for students by supporting the professional development growth and development of teachers. Reports to the Coordinator of ThriveRichland.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions :
Supports the implementation of ThriveRichland ,the district's coaching and professional development models.
Supports prekindergarten teachers to improve and sustain student achievement through modeling of demonstration lessons, co-teaching, co-planning, observations with growth-producing feedback, and facilitation of teacher reflection through pre- and post-conferences.
Gathers information and/or resources or develops resources for teachers to support their professional growth and to demonstrate best practices in alignment of curricula and assessments to standards; this includes but is not limited to technological resources.
Provides support for prekindergarten teachers in developing content expertise.
Provides support to prekindergarten teachers in implementing best practices and methodologies that can be used to support teaching and learning, including but not limited to practices and methodologies that incorporate the use of technology to support instruction.
Assists prekindergarten teachers in the collection and analysis of data results; models the use of data in co-planning lessons and reflecting on co-taught and demonstrated lessons.
Recognizes needs and makes recommendations for appropriate instructional materials/resources and assessments that support state standards.
Collaborates with others to supportively challenge current practices and to support prekindergarten teachers through change, especially as it relates to the use of technology to support teaching and learning and in the implementation of blended, personalized learning.
Meets occasionally with PLC teams, as requested by the principal, curriculum resource teacher or assistant principal for instruction, for the purpose of planning next steps for student and school improvement.
Supports prekindergarten teachers to learn specific and differentiated strategies that enable teachers to meet the needs of all learners.
Collaborates with teachers to help them learn to more efficiently identify the instructional needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve to develop and implement best practices to support continuous academic growth of students.
Provides professional development on best practices in literacy and/or math across the curriculum.
Analyzes disaggregated student learning results from a variety of data sources and uses data about participant gains in knowledge and satisfaction levels to determine adult learning needs.
Maintains frequent contact with and provides assistance to new teachers, teachers identified through the district's referral system, and teachers requesting assistance.
Supports prekindergarten teachers in providing a world-class education through the use of both research- and evidence-based instructional practices that integrate the use of technology.
Develops collaborative and professional working relationships with colleagues, school faculty, administrators, and members of the Division of Teaching and Learning.
Contributes to a repository of up-to-date professional development experiences that includes but is not limited to e-learning experiences that is easily accessible by staff.
Collaborates with the Director of Early Childhood Education to ensure professional development experiences are evaluated to determine impact on student achievement and teacher efficacy.
Collaborates with teams, both within the Division of Teaching and Learning and in other divisions, working to increase student achievement.
Monitors progress and uses data to make recommendations for curricular and instructional strategies to support student achievement.
Assesses professional development needs, designs and facilitates projects, courses, workshops, seminars, and trainings in alignment with the district's strategic plan and national standards for professional development.
Reads professional journals and research papers; attends seminars, conferences and workshops to continuously update professional knowledge.
Keeps abreast of developments and innovations in the profession.
Performs computer data entry to record and retrieve various information and to prepare reports and correspondence.
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports, including expenditure request forms, standardized test data, technical study reports, attendance records, journals, teaching materials, training materials, curriculum plans, progress reports, schedules, calendars, newsletters, transparencies, memos, correspondence, etc.
Operates a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, telephone, calculator, copier, fax machine, audio-visual equipment, etc.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other administrators, principals, teachers, other consultants, parents, students, Board members, State Department of Education personnel, government/social service agencies, legislators, sales representatives/publishers and the general public, as necessary to perform duties.
Additional Functions : Performs general administrative and clerical tasks, including but not limited to: typing, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, attending meetings, maintaining files and records, ordering supplies, etc.
Serves on committees and task forces, and attends conferences and workshops, as appropriate.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Education and Training
Requires a Master's degree and evidence of successful teaching experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess teaching certification.
Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required
Physical Requirements : Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a computer, telephone, audio-visual equipment, vehicle, etc. Must be able to exert up to five (5) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five (5) to ten (10) pounds.
Data Conception : Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communications : Requires the ability of public to convey or exchange information. Includes guiding/teaching co-workers and receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.
Language Ability : Requires ability to read a variety of curriculum standards, policies and procedures, technical and professional studies, reference books and publications, catalogs, handbooks, etc. Requires the ability to prepare curriculum plans, narrative and statistical reports, correspondence, etc. with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence : Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, schedule or diagrammatic form; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the ability to apply influence systems in assisting classroom teachers; to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; and to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information.
Verbal Aptitude : Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow and give verbal and written instructions; and to counsel and teach co-workers. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with persons of varying educational backgrounds and in a variety of technical and/or professional languages.
Numerical Aptitude : Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to utilize mathematical formulas, to determine percentages and decimals and to determine time. Must be able to use practical applications of algebra and statistics.
Form/Spatial Aptitude : Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape, and visually read various information.
Motor Coordination : Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using office machinery; to operate motor vehicles.
Manual Dexterity : Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, buttons, switches, catches, medical equipment, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination : Does not require the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Temperament : Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.
Physical Communications : Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear).
Performance Evaluation Criteria
Job Knowledge: Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of ThriveRichland and Teaching and Learning Services as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Instructional Coach position. Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Is able to help ensure departmental compliance with all laws and regulations through professional responsibility. Has considerable knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of Richland District One and other governmental agencies. Has the ability to offer guidance and assistance to teachers, co-workers and employees of other departments as required. Has thorough knowledge of instructional principles, practices and methods. Has knowledge of human growth and development, psychology of learning and curriculum development. Is able to work effectively with people from multi-ethnic and diverse cultural backgrounds. Is able to organize and coordinate the activities of groups and individuals toward meeting established goals and objectives. Has the ability to use independent judgment as needed in performing routine and non-routine tasks. Is able to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision. Is able to read and interpret professional and technical reports and related materials pertaining to the responsibilities of the job. Knows how to prepare reports, correspondence, curriculum plans, etc. Has comprehensive knowledge of the terminology and various professional languages used within the department. Knows how to maintain effective relationships with personnel of other departments, professionals and members of the public through contact and cooperation. Is able to make sound, educated decisions. Knows how to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations. Knows how to make public presentations. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. Has the ability to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency. Has skill in the use of computers.
Quality of Work : Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility.
