Job Summary

Supports the development and implementation of the systems and processes that form the foundation upon which District leadership engages in systemic decision-making and executes change management activities in the assigned office. Gathers, analyzes, and reports on complex quantitative and qualitative data on departmental programs, initiatives and student performance. Works with leadership to ensure constant compliance with standards and practices to effect change.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and analyzes data sets and reports to inform decision-making processes regarding departmental or school improvement.
  • Displays complex information in meaningful and visually appealing ways.
  • Gathers quantitative and qualitative information from a wide array of stakeholders, including District administrators, school leaders, and community members.
  • Analyzes data from multiple sources.
  • Develops and adheres to processes and timelines for information gathering and analysis.
  • Works with members of various central office departments to coordinate the efficient flow of critical information.

Specialized Services Specialty
  • Uses reporting tools to access multiple systems, perform analysis and design reports to aid in the decision support and planning process for all facets of the Office of Specialized Services (OSS) central office and field operations.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of processes that ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and District policies and practices within OSS; monitors processes ongoing.
  • Works with the Senior Project Manager and Director, Special Education Services to fulfill data requests to monitor the behavioral and academic progress of special education students.
  • Identifies, evaluates and documents trends and evaluates data sources which support OSS initiatives.
  • Forecast trends and communicates findings to resolve data gaps that impact the fulfillment of the OSS functional requirements.
  • Identifies and communicates risks and issues in projects/programs initiated by the OSS; communicates this information to leadership.
  • Develops clear and uncomplicated visual displays of data that inform high stake decisions.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems or a related field.
  • Five years of full-time, paid, professional experience, two of which have involved working with large longitudinal data sets, educational data reporting or educational performance data.

OR
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems or a related field.
  • Three years of full-time, paid, professional experience which have involved working with large longitudinal data sets, educational data reporting or educational performance data.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • standard methodology and procedures as applied to data analysis and presentation of findings and data visualization tools and technologies.
  • best practices in data management, including extraction, storage, documentation and database design.
  • measurement theory and practice.
  • applied statistics and using data to change outcomes.
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Google Drive.
  • the services and programs for the assigned area.

Demonstrated ability to :
  • gather, analyze, and report on complex quantitative and qualitative data on either departmental, school or student performance.
  • collaborate with District staff at all levels of the District and work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • apply organizational methods to handle multiple complex projects through to completion.
  • meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Ability to :
  • operate a personal computer.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

This is a 12-month, non-represented position. The salary grade for this role is 4026. Interviews may be conducted to determine how well a candidate meets the established criteria. Please note that not all qualified candidates may be selected for an interview.
